Los Angeles Public Relations Firm Brings the Media Directly to Their Clients

Meet the Media Day event on May 22 in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 16, 2010 /Magazines PR News/ -- It's a rare occasion when you can meet 10 members of the media in person. Yet, public relations professional Lisa Elia, founder and CEO of Lisa Elia Public Relations, is bringing members of the media directly to small business owners and entrepreneurs at her Meet the Media Day event, on May 22 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, Calif. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees will learn about public relations and press placements not only from Elia, but from an informative media panel representing diverse outlets.

The expert panel, many of whom stated they are seeking article/segment ideas, spans all types of media, including television, magazines, newspapers and radio.

Television producers in attendance include Michelle Orrego, who has been a TV producer for 11 years, most recently working for KTLA Morning news as a segment producer; Stacey Margetts, an entertainment producer with NBC who just moved from E! Entertainment; Robert Schnitzer of Oasis TV, a mind-body-spirit TV network; and Dionne Clarke, an international journalist and TV producer who works for media outlets in the U.K. and Australia.

Magazine and newspapers writers on the panel include Roy Wallack, the fitness-gear columnist for the Los Angeles Times who also contributes to numerous sports and fitness magazines including Bicycling, Outside, Consumer Digest, among others; Shelley Levitt, who is a lifestyle writer and is the former West Coast Editor of SELF and currently writes for More, Family Circle, Women's Health, and others, while acting as managing editor for The Style Glossy; Felicia Tomasko, the Editor in Chief of LA YOGA Magazine; health and lifestyle writer Nicole Dorsey Straff, who contributes to AOL Health, Fitness, Organic Spa, and other outlets; Jeffrey Hall, publisher of Westside Today, a group of six glossy neighborhood magazines.

Providing her expert knowledge on radio, Sheevaun Moran, host of the Master Your Energy Master Your Life radio show will provide advice for securing placements. Moran focuses on all aspects of a conscious lifestyle, including wealth, health, and love, among others.

"When I first was creating Meet the Media Day, I did so in order to provide the members of my Get Press, Get Known, Make Money PR program with the opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with members of the media. Then, I decided to open it up so others could attend and learn more about how to promote themselves or their companies and learn from the media panel about their likes and dislikes and how they can get press for themselves," says Elia, who has more than 20 years of experience in public relations and has secured coverage for clients in media such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, E! Entertainment, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, In Style, O, The Oprah Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and countless others.

The day begins with morning networking and a light breakfast. Then, Elia will share PR secrets and helpful tips that attendees can implement immediately. Following this, Elia will lead a Q&A with the media panel who will share their likes, dislikes and tips on what will get you noticed. After lunch, while Elia's clients are in meetings with the media panel, she will be conducting Q&A and live PR coaching session, helping people with their elevator pitches, messaging and media training. Another opportunity to network will wrap up the day.

"I want people to come away from this event understanding that they can get press for themselves, if they have the right guidance, messaging and information," says Elia, who teaches entrepreneurs and experts how to do their own PR, in addition to providing traditional PR services.

Tickets are available for $97, including all discussions, panels, and breakfast and lunch. Valet parking is available for $16, self-parking for $12.
