PlastiColors is Colouring the Future of Plastics

PlastiColors has diversified over the years: What used to be a pipe extrusion plant is now a masterbatch, pigments, and liquids plant.

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 21, 2010 /Magazines PR News/ -- PlastiColors has diversified over the years: What used to be a pipe extrusion plant is now a masterbatch, pigments, and liquids plant.

The single production site is supported by warehouses throughout South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. It are exporting 10-15 percent of its production to growing markets including Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mauritius, Botswana, and Angola. There is a huge opportunity to increase export activity and they are actively developing these markets.

PlastiColors' largest market is the packaging industry, followed by manufacturers of consumer goods, leisure products and automotive parts.

Since 2007 the factory has undergone a multi-million Rand investment programme. This added four new production extrusion lines and five new pigment blending lines, which increased capacity by over 50 percent.

The next step, since the existing site is running out of space, may be to construct a mirror plant. "Apart from the increase in overall capacity this would mean the added assurance that supplies to customers would continue in the event of a major disruption like fire," Michael Maine, Senior Director says.

"PlastiColors has massive potential to become a competitive international plastics supplier. With our technical knowhow and ability, we are colouring the future of Plastics," concludes Michael Maine.
