Industry Leader Catherine V. McIntyre Added to the Cambridge Who's Who Network

Catherine V. McIntyre is the author of "Writing Effective News Releases"

EL CAJON, CA, November 24, 2010 /Magazines PR News/ -- Catherine V. McIntyre has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in writing.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, McIntyre has developed an expertise in journalism. On a regular basis, she has sold freelance articles and short fiction stories to national and international magazines. Her work has been published in 60 countries and 19 languages on a wide variety of topics.

Her writing career began in high school when the owner of the local newspaper offered her the creative platform of a weekly column. Later, she went to work in the publicity department of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., as a secretary. When her boss, the manager of that department, learned that she aspired to a writing career, he took her under his wing and taught her the art of writing good news releases.

After moving to California and starting a family, she continued her career by writing freelance articles for national niche magazines such as Baby Talk and Redbook. She went to work for The Daily Californian in 1987, but took a hiatus in 1990 when she signed a contract to write her first book, Writing Effective News Releases, published in 1992 by Piccadilly Books, Ltd. The book has sold continuously since that time. The Daily Californian ran into financial problems and closed its doors during her absence, but she has continued selling articles to various magazines and newspapers such as the San Diego Union-Tribune and the Los Angeles Times on a freelance basis. She is presently working on a suspense/romance novel tentatively named "Ghost of Love," which she expects to finish in the near future.

In addition to her writing career, McIntyre is active in the local chapter of the Women of the Moose, an organization which supports orphans and seniors, and was one of the founders of the Jazz Association of Greater San Diego.
